Employment and Recruiting FAQ


HR Experts On DemandSM is not a staffing agency. Instead, we help our clients with their recruiting, selection and hiring needs in our capacity as their outsourced HR recruiting manager. We usually focus on management, professional, sales, customer service and administrative positions.  We are an equal employment opportunity company and apply those principles to all of our recruiting and selection assignments.

We help most clients with all aspects of the recruiting and selection process, from defining the job, to sourcing, screening, interviewing, initiating assessments, recommending finalists and checking references and backgrounds, to preparing the written offer of employment.  Some clients engage us only for a part of the process, such as checking references and backgrounds and handling the offer process.  Our HR Consultants each have several years of recruiting experience.

People often ask us how HR Experts On DemandSM differs from traditional staffing agencies.  Here’s how:

  • In which types of positions do you specialize?

    We specialize in management, professional, sales, customer service and administrative positions with annual compensation of $40,000 or more.  

    For highly specialized, hard-to-fill, or lower-paid positions  (such as nurses, medical office support personnel, paralegals, specialized sales representatives, assembly workers, receptionists), traditional recruiting and staffing agencies may have the advantage because they have a database of screened and readily available candidates, as well as an extensive network.

  • Do you maintain a database of candidates?

    We do not maintain a database of candidates and therefore we source candidates through free and fee-based newspaper and/or online advertising, hiring bulletin boards at colleges, universities, trade and industry associations and venues, social networking media and by word of mouth.

  • Do you offer temporary or temporary-to-permanent staffing services?

    Except for human resources and finance management services which we routinely provide, we do not offer temporary staffing services or “temp-to-perm” staffing services, which traditional staffing agencies routinely offer.

  • Who is HR Experts On Demand's actual client, my company or the candidates?

    We represent our client organizations as their outsourced HR department.  Therefore, our only objective is finding the most qualified and compatible candidates for our client.  We have no allegiance or ongoing relationship with the candidates we meet.

  • How do your fees work and how to they compare to traditional recruiting and staffing agencies?

For management, professional, sales, customer service, and administrative positions with annual compensation of $40,000 or more, for which there is an adequate supply of candidates in the marketplace, we can likely fill a direct hire position more cost effectively than most staffing agencies, which typically charge 20% to 30% of first year total annual compensation.  HR Experts On DemandSM charges fees based on agreed-upon hourly billing rates for the actual hours worked, plus actual out-of-pocket expenses for online and/or newspaper advertising, whether a candidate is hired or not. 

For highly specialized, hard to fill, or lower paid positions (such as nurses, medical office personnel, attorneys, paralegals, specialized sales representatives, assembly workers, receptionists) or urgent-to-fill positions, traditional recruiting and staffing agencies may be preferable.   They may also “guarantee” to replace the hired candidate if they leave the organization within a specified period of time.

  • Whom do you recommend for specialized, hard to fill, lower wage, temporary, and “temp-to perm” positions?

    We have relationships with several well respected local firms.  Some are industry or position specialists and others offer broader services.  We will be happy to introduce you to appropriate providers.
